Adding voices to PoserSpeak...Adding voices to PoserSpeak really means adding voices to Windows. Once the voices are installed in Windows properly, they will show up in PoserSpeak as well. To get started with voices, i recommend first installing the free voices from microsoft. First, make sure you do not already have them. To do this go to Start > Control Panels > Speech The Speech Properties window shows you a list of all voices currently installed on your computer. Most Windows XP users start off with Microsoft Sam. You can download two additional voices for free called Mike and Mary. These two free voices are available all over the web in different varieties. If you just need the voices you can download them here Free Voices. If after downloading and installing these voices, they still do not show up, you may be missing some components Windows forgot to give you. You might want to try installing the SpeechSDK from microsoft. It appears the XPPro users need nothing extra, just the voices. XPHome users may need the second link in order to add additional voices. Just download this link to your desktop and double-click to execute. SpeechSDK51 The SpeechSDK is a simple installer you download and double-click. It's big though which is why you may want to try the voices first. I have not been able to determine which versions of Windows XP have and don't have components. I want to urge all readers that PoserSpeak does not include any voices. Installing and support with third part voices should ultimately come form the voice manufacturer. I will try and help when i can. I have also written an FAQ on third-party speech engines: 3rd Party Voices FAQ. Some new voices have come out which are sure to blow your socks off. See the FAQ for more info. |
